This weekend is the Northwest Trail Run’s Fort Ebey running event. The event provides 10k, Half Marathon, 20 Mile and Marathon options.
WIBC offered to help marking the trails on Saturday through our membership. The organizers can also use help on Sunday with registration and marshaling the course.
If you are available on Saturday at 1:00pm to ride around (or walk) and put up trail markers, please meet at the Fort Ebey Gun Battery. If you want to help with the race itself, it starts at 10:00am Sunday, so be at the gun battery at 9:00am. (And if you want to run in the event, they have 18 spots left, and midnight tonight is the cut-off for online registration. There is day of registration if they are not full.)

The marathon course uses just about every trail in the Kettles, so it would be best to do a before 10 am or after 2 pm ride to avoid conflicts. Thanks to all who can come out to help.
Fort Ebey Kettles with Northwest Trail Run’s
Sunday, February 17, 2013, 10:00 a.m.
Runners will line up at 10 AM at the Gun Battery picnic area, perfectly situated to take in the view. All courses include a finishing stretch with a waterfront view along the scenic bluff-top trail.
There are four course options:
- 10 km (6 miles, about 1200 feet elevation gain)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles, about 2600 feet elevation gain)
- 20 mile (about 3800 feet elevation gain)
- Marathon (26.2 miles, about 5200 feet elevation gain)
The 10k course makes a single, counterclockwise loop in the Western part of the area, while the Half-Marathon course ventures further into the Eastern reaches of the forest. The 20-Miler follows the Half-Marathon then the 10k route, while the Marathon is two of the Half-Marathon loop.
All courses have aid stations mid-course.
