Today, May 8th, is National Bike to School Day, and that got us thinking about kids and families on bikes.

If you’ve been wanting to get the kids into mountain biking but don’t know where to start, writer Amy Whitley of has a great article in OutdoorsNW with lots of  good tips for getting the family started riding on the trails!

At the beginning of the article Amy asks “Which is better: walking a mountain trail, or mountain biking it? This is what my kids would call a “no-brainer.”  And with all of Whidbey’s wonderful trails, getting the kids rolling is a no-brainer for sure.  Short drive, or ride, and you’re ready to rock the wheels on Whidbey!

Check out Amy’s >article for a Mountain Biking 101 for Families.

Don’t forget to go over bike safety with the kids too – >here.  And then go over Road and Safety Law – >here.

EDUCATION is POWER when your on the bike.
