This Saturday – Jan 25th – we’ll celebrate the purchase of the land by the Whatcom City Council. Planning for the new park expected to begin in 2014!
Join the Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition, WIBC members, and regional bikers, hikers, horse back riders for a celebration of what will be the LARGEST LOCAL PARK in WASHINGTON STATE! 8,844 acres of new public park! Yee – Ha!
Family friendly event! Start’m young. Bring the kids, bikes and helmets for fun rides on a supervised outdoor bike course (weather permitting). Let’s celebrate our state’s LARGEST LOCAL PARK! WIBC members who want to plan a pre-event or post-event ride – connect via email! Let’s make this a road trip off all kinds!

In March last yr (2013) – the Whatcom County Council decided to purchase the 8,844 SURROUNDING Lake Whatcom, for the price of 35.o0 per acre. Now, bikers, hikers, runners, equestrians and conservationists are working with the Whatcom Parks Department to make this another great regional recreation area. We hear there will be a big article about the park in the spring issue of the Mount Baker Experience coming out Feb 7th. We’ll keep you posted when we can share a link to the article.
