WIBC looks forward to seeing you at THANKS GIVEN’ER
POST RIDE UPDATE ON WIBC TRICK or TREAT RIDE from Matt Plush
I would like to thank everyone that came out for WIBC’s annual Trick or Treat Ride this year. The ride could not of happened without you; from the many hours prepping the trails, the families and groups stepping up to decorate along the way, the pre-ride activities, registration, and after ride fire pit. We enjoyed beautiful weather and awesome trails.
We did have a couple accidents this year. One was caused by someone cutting tape, causing riders to go on trails not suited for their skill level. Sadly, this is becoming a problem on Whidbey and many other organized trail rides.
The other accident was caused from a riders riding out of their skill level. Thankfully, the kids riding with the accident victim did an *outstanding job* with their immediate action. Two riders stayed with the injured rider, three rode forward to get the ranger and three ran back up the course to get an adult. Thanks to Rob Wood, the 1st adult on scene and who stayed with the victim all the way to the hospital.
The two girls that were injured are doing fine, and can’t wait for our next ride.
Thanks to Nick Perera, the State Park ranger and all the first responders that helped.
This week I spent several hours walking and riding the course looking for trash and fixing some trails. I only found a few tiny pieces of candy wrappers. And all of the park staff were very happy with the way we left the facilities. We’re so proud of everyone for taking care in our park!
I have some lost and found items to be claimed: one helmet, one rear red light (name the brand its yours), and a section of a half link repair link.
Please, remember if you have great pictures you want share tag us on Facebook or email them to us so we can post them.
